Older chimneys weren’t built for today’s synthetic fuels or the moisture that New Hartford’s humid summers and icy winters force through their flues. We see firsthand how decades of soot, creosote, and water intrusion turn a once-sturdy masonry stack into a ticking time bomb, especially in homes with original parged flues or no liner at all. Ember Willow’s process starts with a Level II inspection that includes thermal imaging and a bore-scope crawl through the smoke chamber, because the real danger often hides behind the damper. We then present a clear, no-surprise repair plan that preserves the home’s character while meeting modern safety codes.
Choosing Ember Willow means hiring a team that treats your chimney like the historic feature it is. We work on homes that predate the town’s 1870 incorporation, some with fieldstone foundations and hand-forged ironwork, so we know how to blend invisible repairs with visible respect. From relining a 1790s hearth on Old Main Street to restoring a 1930s Dutch Colonial on Wolcott Road, we document every step with photos and a written report so you can see exactly what we fixed and why. It’s not just sweeping; it’s stewardship of New Hartford’s architectural legacy, one flue at a time.
